God the Creator - Old Testament Witness: Part 3 of 13

Preview: An introduction to the God of Creation; the only true God. This is the third part of a thirteen-part series of lessons on this subject.


Scripture Reading: II Kings 19:15-19.

Memory Verse: II Kings 19:32.

1. Did Hezekiah acknowledge God as Creator in the foregoing Scripture Reading and Memory Verse? How did God answer his prayer?
2. Why did God defend Jerusalem? II Kings 19:34.
Note: All odds were against Judah winning the war, but Hezekiah honored and obeyed his Creator and He blessed Judah. God will do this today when we become willing to be obedient to Him.
3. Did David declare God to be the Creator? I Chronicles 16:23-26.
Note: David knew that this set Him above all other gods.
4. Which God did he say our help must come from? Psalm 121:1-2 & Psalm 124:8.
5. Why was Jeremiah confident that God could do anything? Jeremiah 32:17, Jeremiah 51:15-17 & Jeremiah 51:19.
Note: A God who could do these things can do anything. We should trust Him in all facets of our life.
6. How did Amos introduce the God of Hosts? Amos 4:13, Amos 5:8 & Amos 9:6.
7. How did Jonah distinguish his God from the God of the heathens? Jonah 1:6 & Jonah 1:9.
Note: All of the foregoing witnesses identified their God from all others, because He is the Creator of all things.
8. How did Zechariah compare the Creator with the idol gods? Zechariah 12:1 & Zechariah 10:1-2.
Note: We wonder why anyone would worship powerless gods when the God of Creation can do all things. The Spirit of Creation can do all things. The spirit of rebellion leads man to seek gods who have no standard of righteousness; they make them comfortable in their sins.
9. Was the Sabbath also a part of Creation? Genesis 2:1-3 & Exodus 20:8-11.
Note: We cannot accept the rest of God’s creation and deny the Sabbath of the Lord our God. It is not the Jewish Sabbath (as some claim), it is God’s Sabbath and part of His creation.
