Preview: This series of lessons is dedicated as an introduction to Jesus. This is the first of a thirteen-part series of lessons on this subject.

Pre-reading: James 2:1-26, John 14:15, Ephesians 2:1-10, I John 2:1-6.

Scripture Reading: John 1:1-13.

Memory Verse: John 1:14.

1. Who was Jesus before Creation according to the foregoing Scriptures?
2. What was the conversation between God and the Word concerning the design of man? Genesis 1:26.
Note: Jesus Christ was the Word of Creation; the one with whom God the Father discussed the design of man. God said, “Let us make man in our image.” ‘Us’ and ‘Our’ denote two or more persons; therefore, God was not conversing with Himself.
3. Who did John the Revelator understand to be the Word? Revelation 19:11-13.
4. What title did He bear? Revelation 19:1-16.
Note: The title of Lord or King means to be a Ruler or Master.
5. How did John understand that they were two separate beings even though God the Father and Jesus the Word were from the beginning? I John 1:1-10.
6. How did he describe the relationship between God and Jesus? I John 1:6-7.
Note: Many people today seem to be confused about this matter. They believe that Jesus was somehow both Father and Son, but John, who was an eyewitness to Jesus, declared them to be two separate entities with one spirit of truth.
7. God promised man eternal life before he was even created. How is it manifested today? Titus 1:1-3.
Note: Eternal life always has been and always will be through Jesus Christ, but the message is manifested through Spirit-filled people.
8. How did Paul affirm that Christ was our Savior even before the world was made? II Timothy 1:8-10.
9. What part does obedience to God’s Commandments (His Word) play in our salvation? I Timothy 6:10-15.
10. What can blind us from the truth? I Timothy 6:17, Mark 10:23-24.
Note: Salvation is God’s gift to man, but it can only be received by faith. Faith without works is dead; therefore, if we love Him, we will keep His Commandments.
