Preview: Merriam-Webster defines conversion as an experience associated with the definite and decisive adoption of a religion. We must first convert our souls to God and then be baptized and born anew into His Church.

Scripture Reading: Matthew 18:1-14.

Memory Verse: John 3:7.

1. How did Jesus emphasize the necessity of conversion? Matthew 18:3.
2. In what other statement did He teach the same truth? John 3:3.
3. How did Jesus explain the new birth? John 3:4-5.
Note: Conversion brings about a complete change. The new birth brings the same results: It makes an individual change from his or her present condition. We cannot have the new birth or be converted without a change. Many people today are like Nicodemus (without the new birth and unable to see the importance of it.)
4. With what did Christ compare the spiritual birth? John 3:8.
5. What change is wrought by conversion or the new birth? Ephesians 2:5.
6. What is one evidence of this change from death to life? I John 3:14.
7. From what is a converted person saved? James 5:20.
8. To whom are sinners brought by conversion? Psalm 51:10-13.
Note: Everyone should seek to have a clean heart and a right spirit. Christians must teach sinners of their transgressions and lead them to Christ. An unconverted person cannot lead others to Christ because people are led by examples as well as words.
9. What did Jesus instruct Peter to do when he was converted? Luke 22:31-32.
10. What great promise did God make to His people? Hosea 14:4.
11. What takes place when one is converted to Christ? II Corinthians 5:17, Luke 15:7.
12. What is the value of the outward form without the new birth? Galatians 6:15.
13. How can an individual be sure that he or she has the new birth? I John 2:29, I John 4:7.
14. What does the new birth forbid? I John 5:18.
15. What is the indwelling power that keeps a converted person from committing sin? I John 3:9, I John 5:4.
16. What will be the experience and joy of those who are born of the Spirit? Romans 8:1-2.
Note: Let every individual seek to be filled with the Holy Spirit of God so that Christ will keep us in the straight and narrow way; for as many as are led by the Spirit of God, are the sons of God. His Spirit leads those who have the new birth.
